Two Fridays ago, Senate Republicans successfully prevented the creation of the January 6 commission, which would have been a 9/11-style commission whose primary intent was, at least according to a fact sheet that had been released by the House Committee on Homeland Security, “investigating and reporting upon the facts and causes of the January 6 attack on the Capitol as well as the influencing factors that may have provoked the attack on our democracy”.
In reality, the commission was for nothing more than Democrats being able to hammer Republicans for what happened on January 6 all the way up to the 2022 midterm elections. While Democrats claim their aim is to get to the bottom of the January 6 riot at the Capitol, the truth of the matter is they want to exploit what happened with embellishments and lies throughout, for partisan political reasons.
The commission’s failure due to a Republican filibuster was pretty much assumed. The Democrats needed at least 10 Republicans dumb enough to fall for their election scheme to override the filibuster, and they only got six worthless RINOs to agree to allow the Democrats to attack Republicans continually until the next election. Hopefully said RINOs will be primaried out soon.
After the bill failed, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in full partisan mode said that “the Republican minority just prevented the American people from getting the full truth about January 6”, and that its basis was solely “out of fear – or fealty – to Donald Trump.”
Schumer added: “this vote has made it official. Donald Trump’s Big Lie has now fully enveloped the Republican Party. Trump’s Big Lie is now the defining principle of what was once the party of Lincoln.”
There are so many lies in Schumer’s statement. For one thing, the Democrat talking point about a “Big Lie” is a big lie. Anyone with a three-digit IQ knows there were serious problems in the 2020 election. The fact that no mainstream news or Fake News outlets covered any of the evidence presented during state legislature hearings in the key battleground states on top of the massive tech tyrant censoring that was carried out on social media platforms against anyone who mentioned election irregularities galore, should tell you that the Democrats know there were major problems with that election, so for them to continue to call it Trump’s Big Lie is enough to turn 74 million Trump voters into rabid voters for the 2022 midterms.
In short, the Democrats know about the testimonies that were taken and the evidence that was presented, and they know their boot-licking sycophants in news media and social media blocked information of the hearings from getting out, so for them to continue to call what happened a Big Lie shows they have testicles the size of California. They are lying when they call it the Big Lie.
Another Schumer deception is if the so-called Big Lie has “fully enveloped the Republican Party” then how did they get six worthless RINOs to vote with them? Fully means all. It just smacks of pure partisanship bullschtein on Schumer’s part.
Despite the fact that Schumer has given zero substance to his insults against Republicans for not voting for the commission, it smells like another Democrat partisan witch hunt exercise as Congress already has committees that have the power to do such investigations and some of them already are. Schumer just wants to be able to “officially” attack Republicans every day until the next election.
The Democrats have already blown what happened way out of proportion. January 6 was a riot, yet they say it was an insurrection. Democrats say rioters brought weapons yet there’s no evidence to support it. They say Trump supporters illegally trespassed despite the numerous videos that show Capitol police opening up doors and removing barricades to let them all into the building. What Schumer and the other reprobates on the Democrat side claim they want the commission for comes nowhere near their real desires.
The original 9/11 commission served a specific purpose, which was to investigate executive and legislative failures in order to figure out what policies should be created, changed, or done away with to help prevent another attack like what happened on that fateful day. That’s perfectly in line with the investigatory powers of Congress. At least that’s what the US Supreme Court ruled in the 1957 case John T. Watkins v. United States of America where the court said that Congressional investigations “must be related to, and in furtherance of, a legitimate task of the Congress.” Here’s the kicker. The ruling goes on to say that Congress has no constitutional mandate to “expose for the sake of exposure.”
That’s exactly what Schumer wants to do at least according to his own comments. He and others who wanted the commission have all said similar things about how the Republicans don’t want the truth exposed about January 6. Their reasoning for the commission, while hidden behind gestures of wanting to get to the truth of what happened on January 6, is really generic in nature. Their specific reason is to expose Republicans, and that goes against the Supreme Court’s understanding of congressional Constitutional investigative powers.
There are legitimate reasons for creating a commission to look into the failures of Congress and the Executive branch that allowed what happened that day. As already mentioned, when you have Capitol police opening up the doors to the Capitol building for people to walk inside you can’t charge them with trespassing. And that’s what the overwhelming majority of people who entered the building that day did. They walked and stood around and took pictures.
Republicans knew that the Democrats wanted the commission not to look over failures of the government that allowed what happened but to have a daily barrage of condemnation for Republicans, especially those who supported former President Donald Trump. Imagine the field day that CNN would have now that Trump is out of office and their ratings cannot possibly sink any lower.
Democrats wanted the opportunity to make Americans believe that all the thousands of people who were there that day breeched the Capitol when it was only a very small percentage of them. They also want you to walk away from the commission thinking all 74 million Trump voters were there and in that Capitol building that day and that they were all white supremacists even though there’s no evidence.
There is not going to be a January 6 commission, at least not right now. There could have been and though the Democrats are blaming Republicans for the failure to create it, it’s really the sinister attitudes of Democrats that made the effort’s demise all but a certainty.
