Democrat state lawmakers who ran away from Texas as a political stunt to stop an election integrity bill from passing in The Lone Star State started singing during a Capitol Hill press conference outside. I guess they’re not afraid of Qanon conspiracy theorist white supremacists lurking just around the corner.
To avoid a strike for posting misinformation I want to warn that what they did wasn’t actually singing, per se, but they gave a beastly dreadful performance that wanted to reach the level of singing, but never quite made it there.
The legislators performed a cringeworthy version of “We Shall Overcome” that seemed like a half-hearted attempt at best.
The Democrats flew on a private jet to Washington DC (talk about snakes on a plane) claiming that the reason they did so was to support Democrats in the nation’s capital for getting rid of our filibuster. So these morons actually conducted a filibuster in Texas (illegally by the way) to end the filibuster at the federal level. On top of that, the Lone Star Democrats said they are also going to interfere in DC politics by pushing Democrats in Congress to pass the For the People Act, which is an unconstitutional bill that would have the federal government take over election laws in all 50 states. It’s amazing how the minds of idiots function.
Who paid for that jet? Are these reprobates still on the Texas taxpayers’ payroll while they pull this stunt?
The Democrats ran away because they wanted to make sure that the state legislature couldn’t hold a quorum, which means there wouldn’t be enough people in the legislature available by Texas law to hold a vote. In Texas, they need two-thirds of lawmakers present to conduct any state business. The vote that was coming up was on election integrity laws.
The Democrats are terrified of election integrity laws. They will tell you that election integrity laws are racist because they’re too stupid to come up with a better excuse but the fact of the matter is they know that if election integrity laws stop their ability to cheat in elections, their party is in serious trouble because they won’t be able to win elections. We’ve been told for years that voter fraud was almost non-existent but after the results of 2020 more and more people are finding out that voter fraud by Democrats has been rampant.
On a side note, it is illegal in Texas for them to not sit in session without a approved excuse and they knew that they would be arrested if they stayed in the state so they took off and headed for DC like rats.
Governor Greg Abbott said that those Democrats will be arrested when they return to the state.
“As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas Capitol until they get their job done. Everybody who has a job must show up to do that job, just like your viewers watching right now. State representatives have that same responsibility.”
They were so upset about election integrity laws that they brought a case of beer along with them for the bus ride to the airport.
Republican lawmakers in the legislature supported Abbott on his threat of arrest when Democrats come back. A vote of 76-4 sealed the deal to arrest fleeing Democrats upon their return.
The Democrats probably figured they can hold out until the special session ends. In Texas a special session can last up to 30 days, and the governor calls them. Abbott said he will continue calling special sessions until they return.
The bills that the Democrats are terrified of passing are House Bill 3 and Senate Bill 1 both of which expand early voting and remove some of the extra allowances that were added to accommodate voting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also in the bills is a provision that will create new criminal penalties for specific types of election fraud.
The Democrats did a walkout on May 31 as the first time they tried to stop election integrity laws from being passed. Governor Abbott then defunded the state legislature at that point. Then, on July 8, the governor called a special session to have the legislature deal with the government business the Democrats refused to deal with during the regular session.
This isn’t the first time the Democrats ran away from an election integrity vote. Back on May 31, the party walked out of the session causing Abbott to defund the legislature. Later, he called a special session on July 8 so that the lawmakers could get back to what they were unable to do because the coward Democrats ran away.
